Long-Term Soil Nutrient Management Affects Taxonomic and Functional Weed Community Composition and Structure
نویسندگان
چکیده
Weed communities can be influenced by nutrient availability, form (e. g., ammonium vs. nitrate), amendment timing, type (e.g., organic inorganic), and immigration of seeds during applications. The objective this research was to compare the long-term effect different fertility treatments in a corn ( Zea mays L.)-alfalfa Medicago sativa L.) rotation on taxonomic functional structure composition weed analyzing soil seedbank. After 14 years experiment Aurora, NY, United States, soils were sampled five for rotation: liquid dairy manure, semi-composted separated solids; or inorganic nitrogen (N) as starter fertilizer with either no sidedress N, low rate high N fertilizer. Soil collected early spring 2015 greenhouse seed germination bioassay used quantify germinable Total seedbank density, species richness, evenness did not vary treatment. However, modified ecological niche represented 20 environmental descriptors, which filtered community creating distinct group assemblages. A trait-based analysis revealed that nitrophilic dicotyledons preferring alkaline associated concentrations fertilizer, whereas highly specialist monocotyledons amounts light Because affected but bank density results encourage development holistic management strategies adopt coherent crop fertilization.

A field experiment was conducted to compare the effects of long-term tillage and cropresidue management on some physical properties and nitrate leaching of a Typic Haploxerertsoil under winter wheat (Triticum vulgare L.)-soybean (Glycine max L.) double-croppingsystem. The tillage systems consisted of conventional tillage with stubble (CT1), conventionaltillage with stubbles burned (CT2), heavy ...
متن کاملEffects of long-term fertilization on soil humic acid composition and structure in Black Soil
The composition and structure of humic acid (HA) can be affected by fertilization, but the short-term effects are difficult to detect using traditional analysis methods. Using a 35-year long-term experiment in Black Soil, the molecular structure of HA was analyzed with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), and fluorescence spectroscop...
متن کاملChanges in soil microbial community structure with tillage under long-term wheat-fallow management
Fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) were used to `®ngerprint' soil microbial communities that evolved during 25 years of wheat-fallow cropping following native mixed prairie sod at Sidney, Nebraska, USA. Total ester-linked FAMEs (EL-FAMEs) and phospholipid-linked FAMEs (PL-FAMEs) were compared for their ability to discriminate between plots remaining in sod and those cropped to wheat or left fallo...
